Texas-based soulful saxophone music blending original and traditional Jazz, Blues, and R&B roots.

Paul Klemperer has been playing saxophone & clarinet for over 30 years. Originally from Boston, Massachusetts (where he studied with such jazz greats as Ray Copeland, Archie Shepp, Max Roach, and Ricky Ford), he moved to Austin, Texas in 1982, becoming a regular part of the Austin blues and jazz scenes.
Paul has toured nationally and internationally with Texas legend Marcia Ball (1990-97), Seth Walker (1998-2002), Nick Curran & The Nitelifes (2003-04), the L.A.-based Janiva Magness Band (2004-05) and the Malford Milligan Band. He currently is a member of Austin's own Memphis Train Revue.
Paul has opened for worldclass artists such as BB King, Charles Brown, The Neville Brothers, Ray Charles, Three Dog Night, James Brown, Larry Carlton, and The Meters. He has appeared on national TV and radio shows, including Garrison Keilor's Prairie Home Companion. Paul won the 2004 W.C. Handy Award for best new artist as part of Nick Curran's group The Nitelifes.
In Austin, Paul has also performed with Pamela Hart, Lou Ann Barton, Jimmy Carl Black, Kim Wilson, Toby Anderson, Guy Forsyth, the Atlantics, Rotel & the Hot Tomatoes, Alex Coke, the Golden Arm Trio, the Asylum Street Spankers, and the Jazz Pharoahs just to name a few. He brings a soulful intensity to a range of styles, from jazz to blues to pop and soul and everything in between.
